|United Kingdom citizens needing a passport renewal or anyone asking for a new passport should be aware that the system changed on 3 June and their requests must now be sent to Durham in the UK. In recent years, passport matters for British residents in Switzerland have been handled by an office in Paris.
As from 3 June, the application process has been centralized and passport applications from British nationals in Switzerland will be processed at the Passport Customer Service Centre in Durham. A press release says “This important change follows reviews by the National Audit Office and is designed to achieve economies of scale, greater security and consistency in decision making. All the information required to make an application can be found on the gov.uk website. There will be no change to processing times.”
The new address is:
Her Majesty’s Passport Office
Applicants should be aware that renewals and applications for passports can take up to four weeks and that at the time of preparing this Bulletin, the website mentioned above was not up to date!
